What is CDSE ?

It is the graduate level entrance exam for becoming commissioned officer in Indian armed forces . It is a combined exam for Army , Navy and Air force. This is objective exam. Students who are graduates of any stream ( or appearing for final year exam ) and interested in career in defence services as an officer can opt for this exam.
What is after ?
Fees:- The entire cost of training is born by Central government so students don`t have to pay any fees but he has to sign the bond that he will serve in Indian armed forces. Students will be paid the stipend during the training.
Steps of the exam
- Form filling – There is a notification from UPSC. Twice a year NOV / Dec ( Exam in Feb ) and Jun / Jul ( Exam in Oct / Nov ) . Fill up the online form with your choice of centre out of given list in the notification and your preferences of services you want opt for i.e. Army or Navy or Air force or OTA.
- Appearing for the written exam
- Result of written exam will be declared after 90days
- Those who qualify the written exam as per the cut-off criterion are recommended for next test SSB interview
- Those who are recommended in SSB shall undergo medical test
- Final merit list
- Joining Training as per the merit list
- Army Cadets join Indian military academy ( IMA ) Dehradun
- Naval Cadets join Indian Naval Academy ( INA ) Ezhimala Kerala
- Air force cadets join Air Force Academy ( AFA ) Hyderabad
- Cadets opting Short service commission option join Officers training academy ( OTA )Chennai

Eligibility Criterion:
- Consider the month and year in which you are planning to appear for the test e.g. I want to give exam in October 2017
- Now subtract 23 years from it. So October 2017 – 23 years = October 1994
- Thus as per CDS entrance exam age criterion Students born after 1st January 1994 and before 1st January 1999 can appear for this test Provided they are going to complete their graduation before their joining in Jun
- Now add six – six months January 1994 till you just cross your birth date . The number of times you did it gives your number of attempts e.g. If my birth date is 3 March 1996 then I have to add six months five times to just cross my birth date . So I will have five chances.

About CDS Written Exam
- This is objective type of written exam
- It has negative marks system
- It has three papers Each paper is of 100 Marks

The syllabus for all the papers is of the level which can be expected from any graduate without any special studies. In English all the questions are based on grammar , usage of words and phrases , comprehension etc. The general knowledge paper includes current affaires History , Geography , Physics , Chemistry , Biology etc. related questions
Maths syllabus is given in the Notification . Students are advised to go through the notification for exact idea and any changes if there are
